The Gypsy Camp

In this place from November 5, 1941, till January 12, 1942 existed a camp for Gypsies (Zigeunerlager). German authorities kept there in custody about 5007 Gypsies from Austrian-Hungarian borderland. Approximately 600 prrisoners were murdered and died of diseases. The remaining 4300 inmates were gassed in January 1942 in the Kulmhof Death Camp (Chelmno nad Nerem).
